ACP is short for the Appalachian Cultural Project sponsored by Western Kentucky University each year. A small group of WKU photojournalism students are given the opportunity to travel to Whitesburg, Ky. within the Appalachian mountains for one week, working alongside some of the best photojournalists in the business. Student strive to meet new people in the town and surrounding areas. Participants do their best to battle stereotypes placed on the area by mainstream media and find real life stories worth telling. This year in March, I was lucky enough to be a photojournalism participant in the workshop.
